Magneto's plan is simple: he forces everyone to retreat thanks to the sentinels under his control (ah, the hacked prototypes... something never seen before at Marvel), and thus forces the president to hide in his bunker under the White House. Mystic manages to slip into the presidential suite, while on the surface, Magneto crushes the stadium around the White House... thus forming a huge enclosure around it! The police are thus blocked outside, while the sentinels prevent them from approaching. Wolverine and McCoy try to prevent the guy from accomplishing his dark designs, but both are incapacitated, Wolverine being more precisely pierced by pieces of concrete reinforcement from the country email list stadium by Magneto, before the latter propels him to the bottom of the nearest river. Where he drowns (but his ability to regenerate also allows him to recover from drowning, hop). And is therefore unavailable for a while!
In the future, we see that Wolverine must have a problem since he seems to be drowning. So there's a bit of panic: on the one hand, the sentries are still approaching despite the mutants' resistance to protect their Chinese hideout, and on the other, Wolverine is out of action.
Hmmm... wait, if I understand correctly, Wolverine's mission just ended, right? Not as planned, but it's over, isn't it?
Well, because according to the movie, Wolverine or not, we now have to wait (in the future) for people from the past to stop Magneto & co. So brace yourself, because this also means that if time plays out the same way in the present and the past, and we have to wait for people from the past to act to influence the future (instead of everything happening instantly), this means that for people 50 years in the future to finally be saved, we'll have to wait... 50 years.
No, seriously, kids: stop with the time travel. When you don't know how to manage, you don't do anything.
In short: in the past, Magneto, rid of McCoy and Wolverine, is finally at peace. Xavier is still there, stuck under pieces of the stadium, but the latter can't do anything against Magneto, the guy having found his ugly helmet before coming, allowing him to resist the professor's mental powers (really? But earlier in the film, we explained that with Mystic, all you had to do was " not want to let the professor into your head " for him to be unable to do anything, right? So either the helmet is useless, or someone came up with a big spiel to prevent the film from ending faster.
So why doesn't the future change?
