Google Business Profiles (GBPs) are one of the most effective ways for local businesses to gain visibility online. However, before your Business Profile can be seen by the general public, you must verify it by clicking the "Get verified" link.

When you, as a business or sole proprietor, decide to set up a Google Business Profile, the company offers you several ways to verify your profile. The verification process helps Google ensure that you are a real, operating business that is eligible for GBP and meets the company's guidelines for presenting your business on Google.

The best way to verify would be if Google could fusion data personally visit all newly registered businesses to make sure that the business is real and meets all the guidelines. But that’s not realistic. That’s why one way to verify a business is through video verification. And it’s probably the best way to visit your business with a “digital in-person visit.”

Video allows Google to see your business and other details about it. Google's video verification method works to verify and confirm the authenticity of your business, and to remove fake listings that could flood Local Finder, Local Pack, or Google Maps and confuse customers.

What does Google gain from video?
Your real existence: Are you a real company/business?
Correct geographic location: Is your business located at the address listed on your business profile?
User Integrity : Are you an authentic company? Are you a genuine merchant? Google is trying to figure out if someone is trying to scam you.
Affiliation : Are you truly affiliated with the company? Do you have the authority to represent the company for which you are requesting a new company profile?
Video capture
You can record your video using your phone, tablet, or other device. It is important to follow the on-screen instructions when creating your video. So plan everything carefully before you start recording your video. It must be shot in one continuous shot. The video should be about two minutes long and concise.

Once a business provides evidence of its authenticity and existence on video, operators will review the content and assess whether the evidence is sufficient for the business to be considered verified.
